Peripheral Electronics iPod Cable
after using the belkin auto kit for the longest time i finally got rid of it because i hated having the alternator noise it had when the aux cord was plugged into the charger. i just bought the peripheral electronics cord for alpine ai net. it charges the ipod and i control the ipod from the ipod. i think everything is hooked up right...the black wire is to ground and the red power wire is connected to the yellow/red switched power wire. on my other charger the ipod automatically shut off when i turned the car off...this one does not. is it possible that i hooked it up wrong or is this just something im going to have to deal with? any help is greatly appreciated.
its a 97 civic ex btw...

i ran the power wire to the car though. its spliced into the yellow wire with the red stripe in the car harness which i think is switched power.

You are correct the yellow/red in stock radio harness is acc., [switched].
What Alpine HU do you have and what is the model # of the Peripheral iPod adaptor, do you have a link? 94

Re: (fcm)
i have an alpine 7892. i do not have the number on the cable but it does work on my headunit perfectly. i did a little more research and found out that the belkin auto kit had something in the circuit that had an auto shutoff for the ipod when the key was off. the peripheral cable does not have this feature. i believe that i need to somehow tap into the wiring and put a 1 m ohm resistor on pin 21 of the ipod plug. any ideas on how i should go about this or another idea?

Re: (MilanoCivic97)
I have no other ideas, to install the resistor it's just a matter of "opening" the cable up, finding the lead for "pin 21" cutting it and then installing, [solder/shrink tubing] the resistor, although not sure what that will accomplish. 94

Re: (fcm)
ive read that that is what the belkin auto kit has that causes the automatic turn off. heres a link to the pinout i looked at...look at pin 21. http://pinouts.ru/Devices/ipod_pinout.shtml
