Default ?????OHMs???????




Ok say if you have an amp that can be bridged @ 4OHMs
and two 12"s that are rated w/ dual 4OHM voice coils is there
any way to hook it up.
sorry for the vauge dis. just tell me if you need more info....

So you have dvc subs? if so are they 4 or 2 when both hooked up?

should be 4, 4 ohm coils total, so either 1 ohm or 4 ohm. wire the coils in series and the speakers in parrallel for 4 ohms.

Yep you are totaly right(Malachi) I spoke
to an audio install friend and he said the exact same thing.

The bridged amp will actually only see 2 ohms. So I hope your amp is 2 ohm stable. Good luck.

He doesn't really have many options on how to wire them. Just wanted to inform him that if the amp says that it is 4 ohm stable bridged. It doesn't neccessarily mean he can hook up a 4 0hm load to it. Check your amplifier specifications.

I think the question that needs to be asked is what kind of amp does he have?
Bridgeing the amp to these speakers may not be the best solution.
It may turn out to be fine, but more info is needed to answer his question accurately.

If anyone is interested in the math here it is just use any combination

For series R1+R2+R3....+Rn=Req

For parralel
1/(1/R1+1/R2+1/R3.....+1/Rn)=Req

Req= equavilant impedence

R1....Rn= The impedence of each voice coil.
