You have two 500W DVC 4 ohm subs so you will need , [ideally] an amp that will make 1x1000W RMS into a 4 ohm load, you can get away with an amp that will make 1x1000W RMS into a 1 ohm load.

The "ohms" is the resistance of the VCs, [voice coils] you have DVC, [dual voice coil] 4 ohm subs each sub has two 4 ohm VCs there are 2 ways to wire more then one speaker, [or VC] together, parallel or series, when you wire in series the impedance, [ohms] goes up, and in parallel it goes down, EG: two 4 ohm VCs wired in series would be 8 ohms, the same two VCs wired in parallel would be 2 ohms, it makes no difference if the VCs are on the same speaker, [DVC 4 ohm]
or two SVC. [single voice coil] speakers.

Because you have two DVC 4 ohm subs you should wire the 2 VCs on each sub in series, [= 8 ohms] then the two subs in parallel, [= 4 ohms]

Can also be done by wiring the two VCs of each sub parallel, [= 2 ohms] and then the two subs in series, [= 4 ohms]. the first way is preferred

Wiring the VCs on each sub in parallel, [= 2 ohms] and then the two subs in parallel, [=1 ohm] you would need an amp that is stable at 1 ohm to use this wiring configuration.

Here are a couple links to read, they may help you understand... http://www.the12volt.com/ohm/ohmslaw.asp and... http://www.the12volt.com/carau...s.asp

A very good amp would be the JL Audio 1000/1... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...d=221

There are 35 for sale at eBay... http://search.ebay.com/search/...prchi=

And 24 other 1000W mono amps... http://search.ebay.com/search/...prchi=

But be careful the amp has to be 1000W RMS into a 1 or 4 ohm load, and unlike the JL amp, [1000W RMS into 1.5ohms to 4ohms] most amps output will depend on the load, [ohms/impedance] they are connected to, EG: the Alpine MRD-1005 is only 500W rms into 4 ohms and 1000W into 2 ohms, and is not stable below 2 ohms, [will overheat at 1 ohm]. 94

thanks bro. that really helps alot.

but now i have this question. if i were to pick up that alpine MRD-1005, i should wire the 2 subs in parallel, correct? the way it seems, the parallel way would make it 2 ohms which would keep it stable enough and not too hot enough where it would over heat.
