MTX Amp Install In Teg???
I installed an 80 watt MTX amp in my teg, but it keeps shutting off for no reason. Here is what I have and how I have it installed. I have 8 gauge wire for a power cord with a 60 amp fuse off of the battery. I know my ground is good since I used to have a amp grounded to the same connection. I thought the remote wire was the problem but I reconnected and I know that is ok. Oh and this is hooked up to a new alpine deck. I am thinking the problem may be with the amp being mounted under the passenger seat. Do you think the amp doesn't get proper air flow and the protection kicks on? does anyone have any suggestions for what I should check?
I had a similar problem with my mtx amp shutting off in the middle of driving and what not. Is the red light on when the car is off? Try another ground, since I found that was my problem and it fixed it. Hope this helps.
Ok I kind of fixed the problem, but not really. I have an older model kenwood amp that I hooked up and it works fine, hasn't shut off yet. Could it maybe be the MTX amps protection that kicks on for some reason, could it get to hot for the amp under the seat?? But I can't see that happening when I go to start my car and the amp doesn't turn on at all.. Anyone know something about this???
Had the same problem too with an old MTX.
Moved the amp in the trunk and it was better but still paused after 6 hours of continuous play under the arizona sun.....
RF and Phoenix Gold never did that.
