Default amp problem

I am tryin to install a mtx amp in my 98 prelude. I have intalled stereo systems many times and never encountered a problem such as this. I cant get my amp to turn off!. its properly connected the the remote wire and as far as I know its grounded well. the funny thing is, that the amp doesnt get power unless I connect the RCA cables. as soon as I disconnect the rca cables, it turns off. I'm pretty sure its not a problem with the equipment because I had all the same equipment installed in my old car about a week ago and everything worked fine. any help would be much appreciated. thanks.

You must have wired the remote wire to a constant 12v. Make sure it's not. This should help.

Use a test light and check to see if the remote wire is turning off when it's supposed to.
If the remote wire is turned off and the amp is still on then something is odd with your wiring or the amp

If the amp shuts down when you unplug the rca's then you have no ground.
the amp is grounding through the shield on your rca's . that is why it is acting funny.
