Default Laptop monitor converted for ICE use?

Assuming its possible...what do you need to make an LCD monitor from a laptop to work on a car dvd player? Has anyone does this conversion before? Couldn't find any info online.

Thanks!

Nah...im referring to just the monitor, not the whole laptop. You can buy laptop lcd monitors for pretty cheap on Ebay, and I have a spare one at home.

depends on what the monitor has as far what is needed to get it going. does it have a VGA input or a DVI. either way, im sure you could get some sort of converter for it.

the monitor its self (IE> LCD/TFT screen) wouldn't have any standard input. It's run off of whatever type of display control IC the manufactorer setup to run it... so not only would you have to know where to get a controller chip, but also how to interface with it (pretty much making your own driver circuit/program). It would be a heck of alot of work in my mind... and it would be a hell of a lot cheaper and easier to just use a laptop

I've found some info on 12volt.com and it seems to be a pretty expensive project. You can purchase a signal converter...which aint cheap and is the same price as a low end in-car standalone monitor.

I was planning to work with a VGA monitor and I believe I have the controller card / board (i'll have to double check what this chip really is). I have a mac laptop with an s-video input, but since its a fully working laptop I wont hack that think up just for this project.

I am looking at a psone monitor this time as an alternative. If that proves not to be cost-effective...I'll just ditch the whole thing and buy myself a liliput monitor on ebay

Thanks guys!

My misunderstanding. From what he said it sounded like he was refering to the actual laptop screen its self.
