keyless entry
im looking to put in a keyless entry system. which ones are easy to put it. or is there no easy ones. im new at doing this but im sick of unlocking the doors
thats cool. yea noones really answering me on that forum cuz i dont think a whole lot of people look over there. im sure i'll figure it out though. its probably way easier than an alarm.
Well I'll be doing soemthing like this,
Im swapping my 2dr door handles to the 4dr rear ones with NO key holes.
Buying two $10 door lock actuaters and using an keyless remote to lock and unlock the doors,
And once I get an alarm I'll use that.

Ummmm...it sucks. Well not totally...I have had a few returns from customers when I carried that model from remotes not working and onboard relays failing -a lot more than what i wanted to see in a product failure rate.

Why not just go with a whole alarm? My favorite "cheap" alarm, hands down, is the Hornet 740T. It's not two-way or LCD or anything, but you can pick it up for $70 at circuit city (you have to buy online and use instore pickup, if you just go into the store they won't let you buy it without having it installed). Starter kill, aux. out, and the ability to hook up whatever sensors (tilt, etc) you need. Plus the DEI quality. Even the little 3 button remote can withstand being dropped, slammed, even thrown into water
and still work. Hooking up an alarm isn't much extra then hooking up the keyless entry, just do a good job. :D
Check out suspendedhatch's guides, they are the best install guides I've ever seen. I don't consider myself a pro, but I've been doing installs for a few years and I picked up so many tips from his guides, they are great.

I do agree that an alarm is the way to go, as mentioned you can get a DEI for under $100, also available from Audiovox for even less, but I would go with the DEI.

Tell us how that door handle swap goes. I'd like to try doing that to make it harder to get into my car, but I'd be afraid of the battery/backup battery dying or alarm failing.

"Shaving" or getting rid of the door lock cylinders is aesthetic, it will not prevent anybody but an honest person with keys form getting into your car.
