i have infinity 6.5 inch components up front and 6.5 kickers in the rear of my integra. sounds good and gets loud enough without the extra weight and space loss of having an amp and sub
am i goin in the right direction on gettin componets up front and 3/4ways in rear with a single kicker c12 for lows? or anyone else got any suggestions?

also what other brands do ya suggest to go with for that price range...
because your front stage is more important than your rear filler..
when youre at a concert the sound is coming from the front...
and when artists records theres only two channels left and right..unlike movies where its 5.1 7.1 ect ect...

Ditto the above^^^.
Having high frequencies coming from behind you will make proper staging and imaging pretty much impossible, in fact you could get away with using the stock speakers in the rear, [if they are still good] and if you are going to drive the rear speakers with an amp, wire the speakers in series and connect them to a bridged amp or bridged rear channels of a 4ch amp for a mono rear fill. 94

Well I am replacing the Eclipse 6.5" 2ways I now have in my 94LS with Eclipse SP6510, [6.5" point source] for the front and if I can find them a set of Eclipse SP6500 [previous model] for the rear, the 6500s have a removable tweeter and the 6510s do not.
They are "standard" 6.5" speakers so they will fit the custom speaker housings and cabinets I made for the Eclipse 2ways, not that that is why I am using them, I am using the Eclipse because I think they are the best sounding speakers for the buck I can get.94

In the end my setup is as follows, and trust me you will be happy with this.
- Head unit with plenty of tuning options and high voltage pre-outs as your starting point
- For the sub, get a decent little amp to power it, pay attention to the RMS ratings of the sub and potential amp.
- For up front, get yourself a set of 6.5 mids and a nice set of tweeters. Power this component system with a nice quality amp and your ears will love you.
- For the rear...do nothing. You can even remove the stock speakers if you want.
If you do the front setup properly you don't need to waste money on the rears.

It sounds like you are just getting into car audio. In that case, work with the Kicker sub for now. Eventually you'll learn more and most likely get into higher quality stuff.
The kicker sub will pound with the proper amp setup. The key though to a good system is a properly powered component setup in my opinion.

properly powered system is important, but when it comes to sub, so is design.
you can make Radio Shack speakers sound good with the right box. Box design, and airspace enclosure is important. its not hard to find, usually the sub manual will have it listed. airspace, and the correctly built enclosure makes a huge difference. and yes, im talking about good materials. not 1/4" particle boards like ebay.
