Help: is it possible to use car speakers with smartphone?
Hi,
Is there a converter for stereo wiring to a AUX jack to the smartphone? I don't have a stereo and want to use the car speakers being controlled by my smartphone. Is that possible?
Thanks

If your smart phone has a standard headphone size input and you have an aux input on your radio (if you had one), you can play your music from your smartphone through your car speakers. Just be sure you adjust the volume on both your phone and your radio since you'll have dual volume control and could damage your stock speakers. The cords aren't expensive, I believe 99 Cent store has some or check radio shack.

Basically do you want your phone to act as a large speakerphone? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't know if it's possible without having a radio with an aux input. It sounds like a cool project if it's possible.

My smartphone will only store the mp'3s and act like a stereo but using the car speakers instead of the smartphone speaker.

No, it's not possible. The speakers need to be powered by a source, which would be the radio. Your smartphone doesn't deliver enough of a signal to power car speakers.
You can get a bluetooth car stereo for a reasonable price now a days. But you will need a radio with bluetooth capabilities or a regular stereo with a bluetooth adapter hard-wired in to have your phone calls transmitted through your car speakers. Otherwise, you'll have to resort to an earpiece or bluetooth speakerphone setup.

You will either need a car stereo, or at the very least a small amp.
I have this radio in my Tahoe and love it. Sounds great and easy on the wallet.

Or even cheaper, but a honda wiring harness and install something like this to run a pair of speakers.

This will allow you to play wireless and with no radio.

You have to hook up your speakers to a 4 channel amp. For your input you'll use a Y cord with a 3.5mm jack on one end, red and white outputs on the other. You plug this into the input on the amp. Adjust the gain on the amp, and then control the volume with your phone.
You'll have to hook up the remote wire to a switched ignition source so the amp will turn on and off with the car.

^^^Here^^^
Doesn't have to be a 4 channel amp though if you only have 2 speakers. But yeah, you'll need an amp to drive the speakers.

Not sure if you ever got what you were looking for, but I installed one of these today and it works great.
In your case you could just buy a cheap OEM stereo on Ebay or whatever and hook this up.
It took a while to get it together but I like everything nice and neat, so it probably could have been done in only 2-3 hours. Most of that time was trying to get it apart/back together.
I used the ACC wire in the stereo harness to power the modulator (Yellow/Red) and I connected it to the ground wire that goes to the cigarette lighter.

I dont think thats possible. Why not just install an aftermarket radio with bluetooth or an AUX and connect your phone to that?
