Default help identifying car alarm

I just recently got a 99 GSR. In the progress of trackign down other wireing issues, i found what looks like an alarm control box under the dash... theres no stickers or anythign on it to tell the the model number or anythign... also the speaker has been removed... as well as the car did no come with any FOBs.

Remove that junk and re-do the install with a more reputable system. That looks like your typical "Best Buy" alarm install. Closed end cap connectors isn't considered a stealth install.

Yeah...

I'm sure there are shops or individuals near you that can do the work. Just have to ask around. Make sure to look at his/her car first. I've seen some "so-called" installers cars and it looks like a bunch of spaghetti wires in the engine bay. That pretty much explains his/her type of work. LOL

As mentioned, remove that unit and toss it into a garbage can, reconnect/repair any car wiring that alarm was wired to, then look for your "wiring issues" if the alarm is not the problem, and with that cluster **** it well may be.

Do your own alarm install, if you can solder, it's not that hard, even a full stealth install, a "semi stealth" install is easy. 94

Basic DEI, [Viper/Clifford/Avital and so on] alarms go for under $100, but buy from an authorized DEI dealer to get any warranty and a new, [not refurb] unit.

Get the alarm and let me know what you have and I can walk you through the install. 94

acording to vipers website, no matter what, if you buy without installation, the warranty is void. is that true for the other companys too?

Not sure how it works in the US, here in Canada you get 1 year if not installed at an authorized dealer and limited lifetime if installed at an authorized dealer.

Warranties are different from one brand to another. 94

I used to do quality installs a couple of decades ago, with my small stereo shop, but places like best buy with their crap free installs of everything, put us legitimate installers out of business. A stealth alarm shouldnt be under the dam dash, where do you think a thief is going to look? just like the siren in plain sight under the hood, thats hard to defeat. the best place to put a module is behind a body panel, and not the kick panels, ultimate best place, if it has no reset buttons, or anything that has to be reached, is to pull the dash and hide it behind the dash

do you want that one? just trying to figure out what it is, might be interested in the alarm and part of the pigtail if you are going to throw it in the trash, might dissect it to see if there are any identifying numbers inside. I cant seem to get the logo in the middle of it to even come up

would it hurt anything to just unplug the brain and leave the wiring for now?

the two heavy brown wires almost look like it has an on board starter interrupt or possibly a remote start unit, does one of the heavy wires go to the white wire for start?

where did you buy this car? that almost looks like a remote disabling device, might not even be an alarm, does the car have a remote or a siren under the hood? dealers install devices to keep your car from starting if you are late

I wouldnt unplug it yet, if the two wires go to a start interrupt, the relay looks to be onboard, you will need to trace them to see if they interrupt the wire that goes to the starter solenoid from the key switch

It is not a remote start, and far too many leads to be a dealer immobilizer, it is an alarm with starter cut relay built-in, [brown leads], I can also see a ribbon cable, most likely an impact sensor.

I would not just unplug the alarm brain and leave the wiring, if you do just unplug it you will need to connect the two brown leads together or it is my guess engine will not crank, [starter motor will not work]. 94
