Help With Amp Choice
First off i've searched a lot of different places but figured i would get you guys' opinion. What is a good amp for 2 12" Kicker Solo Baric L5's in a sealed box. The amp I have currently is the Kicker KX1200.1. I am debating if it is the best amp for the setup...any suggestions or advice is welcome. Thanks!

Thanks again for all the help...any more oppinions are more than welcome. I just figured i would get you guy's oppinion. I personally didn't think that the mono amp was the best for the 2 subs but it sounds good but cuts out sometimes. Also is there a particular way the subs should be wired into the amp, it being mono and having one set of pos. and negatives? Also does anybody know if the noise suppressors (sp?) you can buy from audio stores are good for eliminating the whine in my speakers? Any more oppinions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again you guys for all the help!!

You are better of to find out how the noies, [whine] is getting into the system, and "fixing" it there then adding any kind of "noies suppressors.
Common cause of "alt. whine" in a cars audio system is having the RCAs running next to power wires, [any power wires] or defective RCAs

Hmm..thats interesting..i didn't even think to see if my power wires were anywhere around there...i checked my rca's not too long ago because i thought i had knicked them on installation but i couldn't find anything...i'll check that and get back with you. Also could it possibly be a bad ground, too long of a remote wire, or anything else because i've heard all that would cause the whine. Just to note the whine is coming through the speakers only and not the subs. Thanks!!
mono amps are the only way I power subs...they only produce low frequencies, therefore they are more effecient, and they are designed with the intent at being run at a 2 ohm load.
Any decent mono amp should have no prob running at 1 ohm (i have done it with many......4 subs/1 channel)
that amp you've chosen is perfect....kicker 1200
kicker makes some nasty amps...almost always they are way more powerful then their rating.

its a class d? whats the rms at one ohm? if its one ohm stable that is, amps i like on these subs are either the directed 100d or lanzar 1800d both giving them about 500-600 rms each thats if they are 4ohm dvc and wired in parallel

Actually you are wrong. Class D amps do not mean that they only produce low frequencies.
Class D amps are sometimes called digital amplifiers. There is really no such thing today as a digital amplifier. A Class D amplifier uses transistors that are either switched on or off to represent positive or negative values. The transistors are either on or off. The advantage of such a system is that it is highly efficient and generates very little heat. The disadvantage is that there can be a distortion caused between the switching of the positive and negative transistors as the positive and negative transistors can not be on at the same time.
Many Class D amplifiers are finding their way into Subwoofers. They are inexpensive to build and the logic is that the switching distortion is not important in a subwoofer.
