Default fuel pump kill switch

I was wondering if you have to use a relay when making a kill switch for the fuel pump? The reason I am asking this question is because I researched this topic and the information I got kinda confused me!!!

In some there is no relay used, they just have a switch that interrupts the power to the fuel pumps.... and in others there is a relay used that goes back to the alarm!!!

So, my question is can I make a kill switch without using a relay and still be save from any fires???

If you want it connected to an alarm you will need a relay if you want to just add a switch a relay is not needed if you install the switch on the ground to the PGM-FI Main Relay or the switch is installed close to the power lead to the fuel pump, [and the switch id "big" enough. a relay would be needed if the wire run to and from the switch is too long. 94

If you are going to install the switch on the ground to the PGM-FI Main Relay then it makes no real diff. on how long the leads are as it is a low current ground, if you want to put it on the fuel pumps power lead then any more then 3' away, [6' of wire] I would install a relay. 94

Take this mans advice. Its better then the fuel pump wire kill. I been preaching this for a min and so has fcm. It harder if not inpossiable to bypass a alarm with the main relay killed. This kills the fuel pump, injectors and part of the ecu. Its three in one. Use this with a alarm system and you will have a very protected car.

Would you know where i can find a diagram to do that? The reason I'm asking is because I don't want to have a short causing a fire by the fuel pump....and I want to have my car fully protected!!!

If you install the switch on the ground for the PGM-FI Main Relay then there is no possibility of either a short or fire as you are dealing with a low current ground.

As for w wiring diagram, it is not needed, cut ground lead install switch, one cut lead to each terminal of a SPST, [on/off] switch.

Then yes, it should be just to the left of fuse box, just above and behind hood release. 94
