most likely he used a fiberglass sheet, and applied to resin to it..
then used the fiberglass matts and strengthened it.. im curious how many he used..

Also, what are you holding the rings up with?

i used spandex to stretch over the mdf jig i made.....the jig was made out of to mdf circles and 6 posts to fasten the post to the mdf base i drilled a smal hole in the top and bottom of the post then ran wire through the base and the end of the post and secured it so i didnt have to deal with screws when i took the jig out

heres the links i used:
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/7165/how_to_1.htm
this ones ok kinda basic

http://members.iinet.net.au/~nismo/subs.html
this is the link that help me the most!!

I'm interested to see how this works...it looks to me like you got some ripples by not stretching it tight enough....I'm guessing that this material would give you a good surface quality after adding resin.

Typically I use either grille cloth or fleece...unfortunately, fleece leaves a rough surface quality that forces you to apply just that much more bondo...I HATE SANDING...

What did the spandex cost?

Ok.. so you made and supported the rings / jig to stretch the material over..
then cut the holes out of the rings

How much fiberglass did you use to strengthen the top?

any way you can take a picture of the enclosure with out the subs in it.. so I can see inside?

What did the spandex cost?.........the spandex didnt leave any ripples it was the fg resin that made it look like that and the spandex cost about 15.00
