eclipse subwoofers?.............
It depends on what line of Eclipse subs you're looking. If you're looking at their standard line, then look into other brands. If you're looking into their aluminum and titanium lines, be ready to spend a LOT of money!! The higher end eclipse subs are some of the most expensive subs available. They also require a LOT of power!!! However, if you get one, you'll be very satisfied with the clarity and crispness of the bass, the fast reaction of the sub, and the amazing power it can handle so it can boom with clarity if you want it to. If you want a metal-cone sub, also look into Infinity Perfects (very good subs!...very accurate and can take a LOT of power also), ADS (can take a good amount of power and is very good for an SQ system. these aren't meant to be SPL subs, but they can still hit), and AlumnaPro (they're higher line is also very pricey, but very good). Look into JL's also as they provide very good response and sound. The W3 would be the one to check out...at least till the W7's come out.
I paid 350 a piece for my Aluminum SVC 12's... they have DVC models now... they didn't at the time so I sold mine and bought a set of Orion HCCA 12" DVC's...
So nice!
But I loved the Eclipses man... so clean, so crisp. I'm not into SPL's much anymore as much as clarity.
Good luck finding them... I know of the shop here in Ohio.. but can't help ya in NY.

Check out http://www.thezeb.com they sell online and honor the warrentee for Eclipse stuff. They have the same 12in that bhcvc bought for $260. I have bought from them on several occasions, top notch service (you can call direct and talk to knowldagable people, usally the owner!) and by far the lowest prices on the web. I just bought a 12in infinity kappa perfect from them and I had it in less than 1 week!
Also look at the Audiomobile Mass and Evo subs, they are prettymuch the best you can get, but they are very power hungry!

Eclipse's are good subs, but check out Crossfire subs... those are some of the cleanest, clearest hitting subs i've ever heard... http://www.crossfirecaraudio.com. They might be a little expensive, but they're worth it. I don't think they sell on their site anyways... you should look around local stores.

Check out the Diamond Audio aluminum cones, I've heard good things about these, and at the local dealer, they sell for less than the Eclipse. I don't think they handle as much power though.
