Default Kicker Solobaric questions

Anyone run Kicker Solobaric L7s? I am wondering if anyone has feedback on this sub. Is the sub more SQ or SPL? I am retiring my two 12' Soundstream Mules and want a decent single sub. Also, anyone know the difference between the L5 and the L7 besides the 100w power difference?

Thanks!

More spl than sq in my opinion. But it does ok for sq. There is not much difference between the l5 and l7 besides power handling.

I guess I am looking for a sub thats both SPL and SQ. My mules are way to 1 sided.

Any recommendations?

How do the Alpine Type R's perform? Possibly looking into a JL 12w6v2 also.

Not sure yet what enclosure, sealed or ported, but i guess you have to figure out what kind of subs you want first.

A better question would be, how much do you want to spend? How much space do you want to sacrifice? How much power do you have, or plan on having?

I am looking to spend around 300 for 1 or 2 subs. Looks like the Alpine Type R's go for about 100 a piece. I have seen the JL Audio 10w6v2's go for about 300. If I get the Type R's, I would get the two Ohm subs, wire in series and pull a two Ohm load from my amp. I have a Lanzar Vibe1500d. I would be running 375 watts to each sub in 2 Ohms.

My amp puts out 750w in 2 Ohms and 400w in 4 Ohms. So I guess it is a tossup between a single JL, Kicker L7 or two Alpine Type R's.

I am used to having not too much trunk space since my Mules were in a sealed 1 cubic foot enclosure each.

I am definately going for more SQ than SPL, but I still want SPL without sacrificing sound quality. My previous subs are one note wonder subs, sound great at high SPL levels but suck at everything else.

You amp should is stable down to 1 ohm stereo, so you can bridge it into 2 ohms. With about 800 watts bridged, and $300 I would look at the idmax, elemental e12a, brahma, re 12xxx. All these will take over 1kw rms. They will have great sq and spl.

why don't you get 2 L5's and bridge them you wont be dissapointed. you can get an 12" L5 for around 120 picked up.
