Default basslink acting funny

i have a premier 840 with an infinity bass link. when the volum low, there is too much bass, when i turn the volume up, the bass is lacking. what settings can i adjust to fix this?

settings right now:

deck: LP cross over 80 and -5 for level out.
HP cross over @ 80

basslink's built-in amp: gain set in the middle range
"bass boost" set in the middle (i dont even know what this is)

it just sounds like the rate your RCA's change output isn't matching that of the internal amp.... that or your highs just pick up too much at the higher volume and make your lows seem to be lacking
