Default Blown subwoofer?

I have a jl w0 12 connected to a pheonix gold qx 2180 amp and lately it kinda seems like it doesnt hit as hard as before on a low setting. Ive had it for a couple weeks too. Could it be me getting used to the bass or could i have a blown sub? Also does setting the sub to a high bass setting for a couple minutes damage the sub? Sorry i'm new to these audio things.

Well you should always keep the sub set to its closest frequency range in accordance to what amp settings are available. Setting the sub on a higher bass setting wont blow it, however it will make it sound different to you. I personally just think you have gotten used to how your sub sounds. Like I always say, when it starts to sound weak, upgrade it

I think you are just losing your hearing

You can damage the speaker if your high bass setting caused it to travel further than it was designed. It is hard to say with the given info. I am assuming by high bass setting you are referring to having the bass turned all the way up.

If it is damaged you will probably have some strange noises and other things occuring.
You are just getting used to it. Get it a friend.

very much true about getting used to it; however, a damaged sub sometimes show no obvious symptoms. lost in sound could be a sign of trouble coming. i'd say take it out and test the back of the subs. GOOD LUCK!!!

He may be saying you should check the resistance of the coils.
