Default Quick quetion on sub volume

I just installed my amp and sub and am about to tune the amp settings.

My deck (pioneer forget which model) has a sub volume feature with 8 levels and an option to go from 80 or 120 forget the measurement.

The default setting on my deck sub control is level 4 and 120.

Should I tune the gain from the highest sub volume on my deck 8 or from the default setting 4?

thanks

Set your HUs sub out to full, [8], I would also try 80Hz LP x-over setting to start, set HU controls to "flat", [bass and treble] turn off any EQs, [if the HU has an EQ] turn off any loudness or "boost" controles.
Now adjust sub amps gain control for max output, [that does not mean crank the gain to the pin].
With music playing try the 120Hz setting, use the one that sounds the best to you. 94

PS, check your amp it may have a better LP x-over, [continuous from 50Hz to250-500Hz] it may be that 95Hz works better for you.
