Very true...but the type-s is a step below the type-r speakers...so i would hope the type-r's are better than the type-s speakers/subs

i heard the type X's blow really easily during the break in period...and the carbon fiber on the surface tends to peel..
a local shop has these on display...they sound awsome..but they look awful..with the carbon fiber peeling
i would stick with the typeR's...they are one hell of a sub! and they have newer versions that look like the typeX's...(with the ribbed rubber part).

ive personally never heard the type x subs but i do have a type s and its really clean... in my opinion alpine makes some of the cleanest audio out there but if ur gonna buy this i say hit up ebay and pick it up for like 250 shipped verse WAY more at an audio shop. but i honestly dont see how any normal person can handel that kind of bass 1000 watts is CRAZY but if ur ears can take it by all means enjoy.
in my opinion..the stronger the sub, the more money youre gonna have to fork out for an amp to match the watts...so i would just buy something a lil less powerful (ex: typeR sub(s)), it will sound just as good and will cost you way less.
..the only reason why you would want the typeX is because you want people to hear you coming right?
...in that case, just get a cheaper sub, pair it with a good amp and a ported box..guarantee people will hear you coming
(also depends on what car you got..)

In my last EG6 I had 3 12inch Type E alpines with a 2400 Watt amp and I sold that wants I heard my friends Type X. Hands down TYPE X is made for that heavy hiting bass music as long as your amp can support it GET IT its worth the extra money
Okay 1st of all alpines line goes
Type E,S,R,X and then F1 Status.
The type x are the best money can buy. Like said before if you can get an amp that can produce 1000rms+. Then go with these subs. They will produce the cleanest bass that youve heard. Also like stated above the carbon fiber does peel but if you break it in CORRECTLY then it wont happen to you. Its like the candy now and later. Hard at 1st then after use it becomes soft. If you smash on it when you 1st get it then your going screw it up. But The Type-x subs get
10/10 from me!

Sure if Alpine is the only brand you're considering.

Well the type x give most subs a run for the money. Im not say that there the best in the world but if you know what your doing and waant a good clean sounding sub then the type x is the way to go.
