Default alarm installers...please help...

i have a rattler 250 alarm, and recently the led will not stop flashing regardless of whether it's armed or not. it constantly blinks. the manual says if it's in valet mode the led will light solidly, so it's not in valet.

usually when i disconnect the battery, and reconnect, the siren will go off, and i have to put the key in the ignition, turn to on, and press the valet switch. well this time it won't work. the siren will not shut off.

i went to directed.com and tried getting information but you need a damn access code which i don't know how to get.

i'm frustrated. any help is appreciated...

Most likely you have a faulty unit. Have you tried disconnecting the battery?

yeah i actually tried connecting the battery again and to get the siren to shut off, all i had to do was hit the disarm/arm button.

wierd. it's never worked that way before...

Hmm you could try pressing your valet switch a few times. It sounds like it is in a programming mode waiting for an input.

what do you mean, unplug it for a few seconds then plug it back in?

i took my negative cable off the battery and when i put it back on, what i usually would have to do is put the key in the ignition, turn to ON, then press the valet and the siren would stop. well lately i've had to do that AND press the arm/disarm button on the remote to shut the damn thing up. and everything's fine until i set something off with the alarm armed (like opening/closing the door when armed). then the led won't stop blinking regardless of alarm status.

from what you are sayin im thinkin that something is wrong w/ the install... the led is reset when it gets signal from the ignition wire, if that ignition wire somehow loosened up for some reason the it wont reset.. i would take it back to the shop that installed it and have them check it out.. it might be a faulty unit it might not be..

I think you are on to something here. Definitely headed in the right direction. DEI products seldom fail, and you are much more likely to screw up when installing than an alarm manufacturer is when producing.
