Default a simplified awd build

seeing so many sucessful awd builds I just couldn't help but wanna do my own. this will all be going on my eg hatch that has a built 84mm lsv on e85 that made 408whp on 16lbs. if everything works out Ill probably raise the boost a bit more and shoot for 500awhp more pics this weekend.

after I picked up all the drivetrain parts from both the crv and wagovan I started doing a bit more research. I found that the wagon rear diffs prove to be very stout also the wagon rear axles are much larger diameter. I decided to go with the crv trans, drive shaft front and rear hubs and wagon rear diff and axles.

parts list used on the build:
crv front hubs (same as jdm itr)
97-01 base model prelude axles, yes the plug right in and work with 36mm hubs.
crv 5 speed tranny (works with any b series hydro clutch thats right awd with a twin disc!
crv drive shaft (may switch to a wagon one down the road if the crv driveshaft doesn't hold up)
wagovan rt4wd rear end
two drivers side wagon rear axles (dr side is 1.75" longer then the passenger side axle)
crv rear hubs, unbolted from crv trailing arms and welded to bored out eg trailing arms
all new ss brake lines
all new sloted and drilled rotors
energy suspension rear trailing arm bushings
all new front tie rod ends
new front camber kit

my goal for this car is to have a powerful civic that will have usable power on the street and strip. Id like the car to run low 11's on street tires and still handle well.

May I ask why you are going with the wago rear end vs. the CRV rear?

as far as Iv found its alot more stout. also the wagon axles are much thicker and shorter so I won't have to shorten them down to fit it in my eg. Ill be selling the crv diff as well as wagon rear trailing arms and a wagon rear sub frame if any ones interested.

here is some of the stuff I picked up.

for sure message me and I can take some tomorrow for you. I just posted it up for $75 plus shipping if you want it .

got some work done. picked up a pair of eg drum brake rear trailing arms, I need to replace both rear trailing arm bushings but other then that they are in good shape and no better price then free right

pulled the drums off and marked where I needed to widen the opening for the axles to fit.

crv hub hanging out till I build a jig and weld it in. looks like the crv hubs make the rear wheels sit in about 10-15mm more then the other one. either the break rotor will fill up that gap or some wheel spacers. doing arp extended lugs all around.

been a busy week at the shop so I haven't had time to work on my project much but I have made a little progress here and there. got the old trailing arm bushings burnt out and new ones pressed in. had to use some ghetto engineering to make it work but they went in without a problem lol. got all my arp extended wheel studs in the mail and having my buddy use his press to install them. still need some prelude 5 lug rear disc and calipers to use and a few other nic nak things but its coming along. bought a 5 speed cable shifter bracket for my tranny new from honda for $48 shipped.

they really weren't bad at all really. I lubed the **** out of them and they pretty much went right in. burning the old ones out was way more time consuming then I would have thought though.

the one part on this build that has been stressing me out has been the fuel cell setup since Iv never dealt with this sort of stuff. fortunately everything ended up being very easy and I was able to modify a cheap fuel cell that I got hooked up from a buddy on to fit my dual walbro setup. the cell was a sumped cell and I figured out how to make the dual wallys sit right in the deepest part of it which is perfect.

does any one know the nhra rules on fuel cells? if so Id love to hear what I would need to do to make sure this ends up being track legal.

pulled and sold my old tranny yesterday along with the axles, shift linkage, t bracket and my old wheels. did a side by side comparison so you can see the difference in how the rear T bracket sits. Im going to be working on the rear T bracket today as well as the passenger side tranny mount.

why take apart a perfectly good 400whp car? hopefully this is worth it in the end
