Looking good! Nice clean fresh head you got there!
You gonna run one of those fancy thermal intake manifold gaskets, right

Comin' along....
Ended up doing it over with the RS Machine pistons after all. I had the felling I would want to cam it later on down the road and didn't want to come up short on compression.
Got the long block assembled this weekend.
Regarding spark plugs, I'm thinking I'll probably go at least one heat range colder than stock. I usually run bkr7e-11 on my high comp vtec builds. What are you non vtec guys using?

Motor is all put together, I haven't had any time to even look at the thing for the last two months. I'm hoping to get it in this winter break, just started ordering a few things yesterday. Updates soon!

in for updates cuz I have the same block and head, just with boost..
im thinking about selling off the turbo kit and going the YCP route.
I already have cams, port matched IM to 68mm TB, I just want to switch out the pistons, header and oil pan and roll to the dyno for tune.
edit: subscribed!

Well, I thought I had some pics of the completed long block around, but I don't.
Here's some of the rest of the parts as the resto came along, I'll snap a couple of the finished motor this week.
Alternator before/after
Header before:
Next project is to get my GS-R trans cleaned up, new seals and boots on the way too:
And then Civic EX harness I picked up is apart now:
All my sleeving supplies should be here tomorrow. I ordered a PLX sm-afr gen2, which I will be integrating into the harness along with removing the vtec wiring. I need to find a few plugs and a handful of pins, it ends up being kind of an obd2a/b hybrid harness with the mix of CR-V and Integra plugs going into the '00 Civic chassis.

i sold the complete head to a friend who put it on his turbo car. same thing. really doesnt pick up till 5000 but it pulls nice after that. you will make more power than i did with that p8r head.
to the original poster, i honestly wouldnt mess around with it on 87 octane. the price difference at the end of the year is only like 150 to 200 bucks. worth it imo to be safer and allow you to make a little more power by having a tad more timing in the tune. what program are you going to tune it with?

Love this thread! It hard to find good info on B20 non-vtec builds. I've been researching these for years and no luck. What IM are you gonna run? I remember seeing years back on here a guy ran a modded stock GSR IM on an All Motor LS build. It helped bottom end power. I think he use a vtec ecu to activate the butterflies.

Not to hijack the thread, but where would one find replacement intake valves for a P8R if you bent one? I know there 33mm, but I think the stem length is diffrent from Vtec ones.

Time to get my wiring going. Got my wideband and all of my loom and shrink tube. Waiting on my pins and injector clips to show up sometime this week. Rounded up the handful of connector shells I needed to get the job done from spare parts.

I'm not expecting huge power out of it, just good power under the curve for a fun DD setup. Should be fun.
