Re: Mild B20z non-vtec daily driver build... looking for input.
Finally had time to finish up my harness this weekend:
Not a tuck harness by any means, although I did move the driver's side plug into the main harness. I'll make a pigtail when I know how long I need to make it to reah the plug from under the dash.
Otherwise, removed vtec and stock o2 sensor lines, integrated my PLX wideband harness, replaced plugs where necessary (its kind of an obd2a/b hybrid since I have an 01 motor going into a 00 chassis with the LS intake mani, sensors, and obd1 injectors) and resleeve.
That being said, I'm glad I have the experience under my belt, but for the amount of time that I invested into it I'll be buying any future engine harnesses.
Don't mind my cat. She's a camera ****.

The puzzle is finally complete, got my last few parts this week. Sending the car off to get the paint fixed up and then I'll start putting it together.

Everything is ready to go, looks like I'll be doing the swap around the first week of May. I'll prolly take the week off from work so I don't have to rush. That way I'll have time to clean the bay up real good, not have to rush to fix any unexpected surprises, and be able to break in properly before this thing returns to commuting.
On another note, picked up a ws2 catback for cheap last week. Exactly what I wanted. It's so quiet I don't even notice its on there. Got it for $200 plus my stock exhaust. I might eventually make something larger, but I don't have access to a tig welder at the moment and I'm too **** retentive to take it to an exhaust shop (and there are more important things that still need to be gotten... Neptune!).
Pulled the muffler section back off when I got home to clean it up.

Thanks.
D-Day. Gotta go run some errands and burn up the rest of my gas tank. Then gonna start ripping it apart. Wish I could have started earlier in the year before it got so effing hot outside.

It's been a year today! Nice set-up, with a proper tune you will get plenty of power and mpg.

Hah! How about that. I really thought I was going to have this thing done by the end of last summer, but time is very limited for me and I hate to rush things just to get them done. I also made it a point to do the job without credit cards, no sense in making payments on a build for a $4000 car.
The y7 is out, today is for cleaning, painting brackets and such.

awesome... i'm in for the results !
I cheated on my brothers b20 build by using stock 8.8cr pistons and shaving the head by .055 to get cr close to 10.1 lol
made decent power 167whp 144tq...
I always wondered what those those RS could do..
GREAT job on the engine rebuild thus far & the engine harness

Thanks, I saw your build in the nonvtec thread. Nice work.
I originally was going to use the PHK's and mill the head, but by the time I spent the extra money on cam gears to get everything lined up I still wasn't going to have the c/r that I wanted. The bigger combustion chambers in the P8R give a pretty reasonable ratio with the RS's too.
I just realized how awful my last pic was. It was a quickie from the iphone right before I started cleaning, this is the first time I've looked at an actual computer screen since yesterday! I spent today freshening p the mounts and some random bracketry, not a ton of progress. Motor is going in in the morning.

Very nice build even if it is a simple build. Im all for taking your time and doing things right. It took me over a year to swap in my B18B1 motor and nearly another year to get my Vtec head on it. Well worth the extra time to pay in cash and slowly get all the parts you will need. Shoot it took me several months just to make a 100% complete parts and supply list for the swap. I love how clean the motor came out.
