Default high compression d-series

i tried searching already and found nothing on this...

im currently pieceing together a 11:1 d16z6... im using PM6 piston and a milled head.. will the stock rods handle 11:1? or should i be looking into custom LS rods?

any other suggestions?

thanks

my friend has that same combo with a thin headgasket too, and he has no problem with stock rods.

compression too high for the rods? nah. it runs fine, for a sohc. i keep telling him to go dohc, but he likes being the underdog. it's in a 92 hatch and it's given a b16 swap a run for its money. if they made a 4.78 or 4.92 fd for the single cams, it would be great.

i tried searching for final drives already, but with no luck, because i just had my tranny rebuilt, and i wanted it put in. but w/e...

thanks for the help mike. so you think the rods are strong enought for 11:1 - 11.5:1 w/ a 9000rpm redline? i also bought APR rod bolts, which should give the bottom end some more strength..

thanks for all the help guys..

Brett, either buy some LS rods, Crower bushings and have the rods shot peened, or buy a set of Eagles. The D series rods are THE weak link, especially at 9000rpm.

you will really be pushing it trying to rev a d16 to 9k... it is pointless, given there are no cams out there for the d16 that make power that high. the geometry of the bottom end of the d16 is NOT rev-friendly. i would go 8k max.

11:1 cr of stock rods is fine, my friend had a y8 running 12.6:1 on stock rods (before his oil pump exploded on him), and i personally have a d16 with pm6 rods at 10.5:1 compression.

dont you need to modify the LS rods to make them fit?

Also, how much more do the LS rods weigh than the d16 rods

nice picture of stuff
