general d series question

difference between d16y7 and d16y8?
i know for one y7 is non vtec, and y8 is but other than that is the block the same?
and will the tranny form a y8 bolt up to it directly?

y8 IM is better than y7, and Im pretty sure the tranny will bolt up. not exactly sure though. i cant remember
