Default b16 block itr head?

Im looking to build a b16 setup. My plans are b16a2 block with ctr pistons, acl bearings, and arp rod bolts. ITR head, arp headstuds and undecided head gasket. This will be my dd so i was wondering if the type r head is worth the money since im using a b16 block. And if the ctr pistons would be beneficial. Thanks alot

ITR head is the same casting as a b16. Save your money.

Why? The 'porting' it has is trivial. Just put some good cams in the b16 head and use your money more efficiently.

I don't understand that either, the B16 head and the Type R head are damn near identical, why is it that the Type R head makes more power? Does it come Pre-Ported with more aggressive Internals or what?

The Type R head comes ported in the bowl area. Tapered intake valves. Better LMA's than b16s. And dual valvesprings. Also the Type R head has a different valve grind angles. The major reason for the HP increase is the port work/tapered valves. Generally about 5 hp on a b16

Dont forget about the ITR cams
I would run PR3 or P30 pistons, not the CTR's

He asked about the head...Unfortunately I got my short block with ctr piston already in it. Engine is kinda of tired (Smokes). Running ctr cams right now. If I had different cams and header/exhaust I should hit 12.8-13.1's

Well I assumed the ITR cams were included with the head, just like how you assumed the ITR valves, lma's and dual springs were included with the head.

I was just be sarcastic..LOL...He asked what was the difference between the b16a and a type r head. If none of that was included with the head it would be a over priced "bowl" ported b16a head. LOL

The ITR valve job like someone else pointed out is also worth some good HP gains vs. the standard B16 valve job.

ok well i found of set of p73 jdm itr pistons and i was thinking of doung a ls crank with ls rods with itr pistons in a b16, so it will be stroked. Im not sure if this will work in the b16 i know it would in a gsr or itr? also im considering a b16 head with either gsr cams or skunk 2 stage 2's. with a b16 tranny it should pull pretty good..
