Default 91 legend overheating problem

I dont know too much about legends, ive had eg's and da's..... well i thought it might of been the thermostat so i replaced it... yet it still overheats... i have no clue what it could be.... (maybe heater core?)

-Car overheats at idle at times

-Car overheats on freeway

- heat is on at all times - sometimes cold/sometimes warm(when temp goes down)

Does the car stay over heated or does it cycle from hot to cold?

Check all your hoses, make sure there are no leaks. Is anything going in the overflow tank?

Also, how many miles are on the car. You could be facing a blow head gasket. Which would be very unfun for you. But your could also have a cracked radiator or something simple

goes into overflow tank... radiator is not cracked... headgsaket is starting to go now..(ran a gas analyzer on it) so to the junk pile it goes.. cause 111 hrs labor isnt gonna happen.. plus new heads... to hell if im gonna do it.. still dont know why it over heats.... but ive still been driving it since the first post..

111 hours to replace a headgasket? get a new mechanic man, because hes SCREWING you.

You dont need new heads, it is very rare that any gets cracked when the hg blows, unless you drive on it for months upon months while it over heats. and even then. chances are it wont happen.

check another mechanic, HG repairs take a while, but shouldnt take more than 15-20 hours (MAYBE)

Blown head gaskets has caused alot of legends to over heat. Its a common problem I see it all the time on the other forum I frequent All-Acura. c02 leakes out of the overflow tank. Another useful tidbit, G2 Legends have a known issue with the fan control unit. When she's over heating the fan doesn't com on like its supposed to.

Hope this helps!

PS. 111 hrs to replace a head gasket is ridiculous (find another mechanic immediately)

sounds like a water pump or a head gasket to me, you can pick a jdm c32a from the junk yard for around $600 and replace it yourself, its not hella hard but its not as esy as a civic swap, replaced my moms in a weekend, but man it was not a fun thing to change... good luck

not long after buying my legend, I ran into the same problems. after spending alot time troubleshooting and taking it to a few repair shops, I decided it would just be cheaper to get the engine swap. if u replace the engine, I recommend a full tune up on the new engine since it would be out of the bay, and dont forget a new radiator too. good luck with it

http://www.attarco.com/ is where i got my moms JDM motor from I have bought several jdm honda motors from them and have not had a problem with any yet. hope this helps... when we got my moms motor it was like $895, but they have changed their pricing if i remember correctly they wanted like close to $600 for a c32a now, which is very reasonable, or if you want i can talk to my freind who i sold my legend to, he still has the Type II and 6 speed i bought for my legend that i never put in, i could ask him what he would want for the motor i dont think he is gonna attempt to change it, anyway let me know

Damn that's cheap as hell. Someone should jump on this. Is the center console the real wood one? The wood manual trans consoles are rare, worth some $$. I know a few people who are looking for one if it is a wood console.

Well if your friend would consider selling the console seperately, let me know. I know of about 3 people looking for one. Thanks. And sorry for the thread hijack.
