Default EPS light On, no power assist

This afternoon the EPS light came on in my 04 Si. It didn't come on during driving, wasn't on this morning when going to work, was on when I turned my car on to leave work. I do not have the Honda PGM Tester so I jumped the 4 and 9 pin on the DLC connector and counted the EPS flashes. The codes that are stored are 12, 16 and 22. Following the service manual it says to reset the stored codes to see if they come back and continue from there. Problem is because I don't have the Honda tester I tried a procedure I found online requiring a series of steps involving turning the steering wheel 45° left, then straight, then 45° left and straight again but I can't get the codes to clear to proceed further with testing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
