Default trans problems

Hey wassup i got a 00 itr. question My 3rd gear grinds at high rpms. I bought it with a stage 3 clutcmaster kit. Would i need to replace anything? Thanks

Yes, your 3rd gear syncro. Or you can use some GM SyncroMesh Friction Modified trannsmission fluid as a band aid.

yea man ITR's are FAMOUS for that 3rd gear grind.....I would suggest if you have the know how to replace the syncro, but tranny work can be very touchy if you don't have experience doing it. Syncromesh seems to work for alot of people, and as long as you don't drive the **** outta your R on the daily basis you should be fine with the mesh....

i just got that problem on my 00 type r like two weeks ago i used the royal purple sycromesh it works but it grinds sometimes it seems like after ive driven it hard all day it grinds but if i just started driving it hard it doesnt grind is there a big difference in using the gm sycromesh?

gm synchromesh may work as a band aid. it worked great on my car for like 2 yrs. but if its grinding, you probably have damaged synchros and will eventually get worse. after I boosted my car, my trans went downhill fast (bearings and synchros).
