Default no 3rd geaR!?

okay I just did a tran swap and startin driving it and found out that I HAVE NO THIRD GEAR while driving to work!!! during the whole tran. swapping process, some tran fluid did spill out.

my question is, would low tran fluid keep me from getting into 3rd?

the guy I got it from also said he rebuilt it before, and it was fine 3 weeks ago before he pulled it out. and that he also left it in the garage, in some cold condition. so I might have to 'shake it loose' a bit.

1,2,4,5,R all work fine except for 3rd. from my understanding, 1-2, 3-4, are paired and 5 and R and single, correct? so if 3rd was to be messed up, 4 should be also right?

guy probably pulled it out because it had no 3rd gear. "shake it loose"=

'shake it loose' by beating on it abit, tried it ummm, nope.

if you are shifting in to 3rd normal it does nothing. it goes to 3rd, but doesn't go in to gear. if you try to slam it in, it goes in once in awhile. sometimes it would go in for a split second and pops back out.

not sure how you feel about opening the case but if i was you i'd open it up and check out 3rd gear.
inspect the teeth on the 3rd gear synchro sleeve and 3rd gear. if there's no teeth then it's time for a face to face with the seller.

If your shifter "pops out" of third by itself, then guess what?? Your third is most likely blown... I would confront that guy and beat the **** out of him.
