Default QT: Troubleshooting with 00 Itr Trunks, Need a part number n name preferrably

I'm having problems with my rear hatch to open lately. Last time i got it checked out the shop mentioned that the mechanism that locks n opens it is laggin or not fully functioning. It didn't matter to me since I rarely use the trunk anyway, but today it wouldn't open whatsoever, tried auto open then lock and also with the key. After half an hour of trying still no prevail. So I know it will eventually open sooner or later but to eliminate the problem i'd like to replace it. Now since i have no clue on what its called, can someone help me in finding what part number it is as well as the name for it, Or if anyone has a spare that would sell it i'd appreciate it. Again its the mechanism that allows the trunk to open(not the trunk switch that's attached to the trunk) and close.

thanks
~paul

its a common problem with 2000's. The latch doesn't click back right? Gay Will had the same problem with his trunk and sometimes the latch doesn't lock on. Lube it up and readjust it frequently.

Is the ITR trunk releave like the 98-01 Integras? Meaning, it is an actuator or is it cable release system like 94-97?

I just know this ish is expensive from the dealer, over $150 and change

from time to time I have a problem closing mine, but when it sticks I use some wd40 and saturate it then I get many months of headache free use.

Still might be covered under warranty depending on when the vehicle was first bought.

If you open it with the switch by the driver's seat does it work?

Yep, they were electric. Never had problems with mine, but I only kept the car 2 and a half years. I wonder if this is an age/use issue?

I think ~50-75% of us have a sticking latch, so it won't close unless you push the latch back to the closed position. Your problem is different, the mechanism is slow.

Lithium grease owns... but you could start with any grease/WD40 to see if lube will even help.

'98 went bad for me. Acura here only charged me $75 for the actuator - and I thought that was expensive

Won't work if the actuator is bad. The key is attached to a switch that sends the signal to the actuator.

yes it will. when you turn it and you think you turned it all the way, turn it a little more until you hear your trunk pop, hold the key there and pull the trunk up. key is the alternative way to open the trunk if the actuator is bad. my friend posted his solution to the same problem in a thread on team integra. let me see if i can find it...

http://www.team-integra.net/fo...earch

his problem was rust. he says your and many other people's problem may be a weak motor resulting from poor lubrication from the factory. his motor was shot as you can see and he replaced it with a used one. works fine.

and yes, it's a very common problem...

hope this helps...
