Not Performance oriented - Finally got the Grills Painted Black! Thanks to Mugen76!!
Well, after i installed the JDM Front after a front end collision, I realized that the body messed up the front end's paint! The black vents were painted Yellow! This happened to my friend Steve as well. We both got into an accident a week apart so we decided on the JDM front to be installed at the same place. He got his grills painted black but i just left it alone. I didn't care too much about it but on the Chicagoland BBQ thread, Superdave offered to help me with painting the front end. Well, Mugen76 offered to help and since he's only 5 minutes away from me, we made it a night to work on it since we both don't really have anything left on our car's to Toy with.
We ran into a few problems at first. We had " Satin Black " spray paint and that was a bit too glossy. AJChen Stopped by and we all agreed that it looked like Nail Polish cause it was so Shiny. I ended up making a trip out to the Suburbs ( Chicago does not sell Spray paint because of Graffiti Control ) and got some Flat black Spray Paint. After a good 2 hours of time, we got it done!
Here are some Before and After pics!
My car and Steve's Car right after we got it out of the body shop.
After!
I need the whole bumper repainted but **** it. Its just a bumper. battle Scars Yo!
Thanks to Mugen76 ( Al ) for helping me out with this.

I'm not familiar with JDM front ends. Can you remove the grill or did you have to mask to paint it black?

I wonder why so many body shops do that.
I see a lot of USDM front ends that have been painted that way too.

I wish my car was in that condition. I drove my R to NYC, NJ, and MD then back to CHicago. NYC had the worst roads. Most of the scratches and dings came from NYC. I don't care, im not a car bitch. Im in Chicago, we get owned by Pot Holes and Road debris. I'd rather not spend the money to get the front repainted when i can spend it on something that would make her faster or smoother.

Make sure you tell the body shop. It took a good 2 hours of flat black spray paint, masking tape and scrap paper. We also had some paint remover. we used the Meguires Scratch X stuff. It removes fresh paint and its clear coat safe. Good stuff!
