the transmission shift rod roll pin hole is worn out slightly larger (from years of being used).

my buddy said that plays a role as well. In addition to the loose trans shift rod.

That part replaced with a new one should fix the lateral movement.

bro if u still have this tool ik this post was made in 2015 they discontinued the part and i would like to use it please i hjave spent 6 days trying to get it out every way i can pay i will even send it back bro lmk

If you are refering to the roll pin remover punch out tool, you can purchase one for a fairly inexpensive price.
