ITR > S2K.. drove a 01 Today.
I had the wonderful opportunity to drive an S2K around the city for 15 min,
It was completely stock, 2001 w/50k on the odo.
I was expecting much more, I seriously don't know how to put this.. but my ITR felt alot more "peppy" and my vtec kick wayyy stronger with a bit more pull??? *I KNOW this sounds crazy>?>?*... (of course i am have AEM CAI.. S2k was stock.)
It was typical no power down low.. had to really rev it, and it seemed to take forever on that digital display...and when i did slam it @ 9krpm it didnt feel as fast, or as pleasing as my ITR?
I was wth a salesman, bigguy, prolly 250lbs... hehe.. I know the S2k about 200lbs more than the ITR? and I do have some weight reduction in my car.
OVERALL, i would purchase the car, its a lovely reliable sport convertable/roadster whatever ya wanna call it = )
BUT i wouldnt trade my ITR for it
Anyone have any experiences , or opinions abuot the S2k? it'd be great hearing other peoples responses.

I havent owned either, but I've driven both.
Without the equivalent of 250lbs of cement in the trunk of the s2k, it would probably feel very different.
In my experience, an s2k pulls harder than an ITR
Maybe the AEM is alittle decieving?

I've driven both and the S2K is fun but I don't care for convertables and those hard tops are expensive. As far as a second car though it would be great. Would I trade my R for one? No

If i were to purchase one, i would definetly get a CAI for the VTEC to howl... how can people drive aruond with a stock airbox???!
I don't think they are too far apart performance wise stock...
buttdyno, ITR wins. All i could REALLY tell you is that i honestly wasn't moved or amazed.. i think it would be different
I took the same roads with my ITR and even with the music up full blast (deceving intake) it just burst like a bat outta hell! = )
As for the weight of the salesman, My friend is 6"5 255lbs..everytime we are out it didnt seem to affect the performance that much...
_____
I can't reply anymore, used my 5 time quota..
As for me drivnig a car with over 200hp.. my father owned a mercedes SLK55, fastest in the mercedes lineup back then...
Jap sportcompacts, the ITR wins hands down when compared to Celica, Tiburon, RSX, blah blah.. my friend took his fairly stock ITR to a dragstrip here in Ontario, a 2000 S2k was running 14.7-9 times with my friends ITR @ a mid 14... of course with a pro/good driver S2K should be capable of a low 14
Im not a fanboi... jeez some of u are rude.

Same feeling I had from my dealer giving me as loaner. I still haven't try 05's to see any improvement. I think I will wait for next generation S2K before deciding to give up the R.

As crazy as it sounds I have owned two of each of the cars in question and the S although faster is smooth and in my opinion boring compared to an R. I did love both but if I went the sports car route again I would buy another R. I love the rawness of the R.

The S is a superior car.(performance wise) PERIOD.
I'd give up the R for the S, only if the S came with a beater. R is more practical for me. But the S is definately faster.
Also,
RWD>FWD

Re: (P Nut)
I have test driven a S2000 before. It feels tight and corners pretty good. There are mixed emotions about which is better etc. Front wheel compared to rear wheel.
As far as trading my R for a S2000. I would do it. A different platform to drive.
Thinking about either paying off my R, and selling it and getting something else. The R isnt doing anything for me as much as it did when I got it. Its yellow, too noticeable, and at this point in time, I want something bigger.
I am sure people on this board will give me their personal opinions along with the retards who will flame on.

In what aspect? what about on a road course? stock for stock?

Re: ITR > S2K.. drove a 01 Today. (ITR9)
I've driven many ITRs (stock, not too modified and quite modified) and a few S2000's. The ITR feels more raw (I guess you could describe that as peppy) but I'd take an S2000 over an ITR anyday of the week, as long as it was a second car. The 3rd gen tegs are far more practical so it's hard to justify having an S2K as an only car IMO.
In Florida I'd love to have a convertible for driving around town with, autocrossing, etc. I don't care if it's that fast or not for autocrossing but a vert around here would be nice in the winter. (summer = too much rain)

In every aspect. It's faster around a road course, auto-x, straight line, etc etc.

Re: (Nuts)
The stock suspension of the S feels much more stiff and responsive than the R. After driving the S, the R's steering & suspension feels a tad on the loose side. Personally, I think the S gives the driver a better 'feel' in the cockpit.
Unlike the R, the S comes with sound absorbing material under the hood. The loss of the 'screaming vtec' can trick one into thinking that the VTec lacks the big kick. Another factor is the power delivery. The power deliver of the S seems to be smoother than the R's. With a smoother delivery there isn't a big jump at the cross over point.
As for Fwd vs Rwd ...who cares Drive what you have and enjoy!
-One minor irk about the s2k - POWER LOCKS!! grrr.....
