Default Installed my ApexN1 today...

I took a few hours after work today and installed my ApexN1 catback. My Spoon header and high-flow cat should be here any day now, but I just couldn't wait.

The exhaust went in pretty easy overall. The muffler was a PIA to get in place. I still have a rattling noice depending on what gear I am in since I left all the heat guards on. Tomorrow I will get under the car again and cut out the piece of heat guard that is touching the exhaust.

As far as loudness, I don't think it is bad at all even w/o the silencer. The car felt stronger after the install, but I think that was do to the weather and not the exhaust.

I rev the car a little bit when only the a pipe was on and damn did the car sound nice, lound, but nice. It had a nice deep tone to it.

Glad you like it, i had the same install problems as you did but overall the exhaust is very nice. I just removed my heat shield.

It's the heat shield near your gas tank, the 2nd one where it bends along with the piping of the B-pipe. You can cut it or just take the whole thing out like I did. Good luck.

I'm getting the same rattle, but only at idle. I thought it was hitting my swaybar, but that doesn't seem to be the prob.

You guys say it's the one near the fuel tank?? I'll check it out tomorrow.

TIA

I am a bit disappointed with Apex-I. They are a great company but they got lazy when they designed this exhaust for the R. If you look on your paper it say that its for an LS integra. They didnt take into account that our control arms are way beefier than the regular integras, thus the pain in the freakin *** to get the muffler part to go over the control arm/ sway bar. I struggled for about an hour trying to get that crap in. Now my car is lowered, and its even more of a problem, that radical bend is now HITTING my control arm. Oh well. Still a very nice exhaust.

yes, it is definitely the heat shield right at the point where the a pipe and b pipe of the Apex exhaust meet as you are headed towards the gas tank.

I am slightly concerned about how the fit will be if I lower the car, but I will cross that hurdle when I actually do it. No need for me to worry to much about it now.

Aside from the one heat shield I am very happy with the fit of the exhaust. I took a look at it again this morning and was very happy with how t fits into the groove in the rear bumper. Almost looks like it was meant to be there from the start.

Just a thought - I installed a Greddy exhaust on my teg and had the same rattling noise from the heatshield. If you don't want to cut the heatshield, you can use a long screwdriver or even a crowbar to bend the heatshield so that it doesn't hit anymore. That's what I did and I haven't had any problems since.

I have the rattling also. I need to go to the muffler shop and have them bend the pipe away or fix my exhaust hangers to get it off the control arm. but i like the power it makes!!!!
