HID problem - ballast?
Tonight as I was leaving the gas station I noticed my driver's side headlight was out. So when I got home I tried to narrow down the problem. The first thing I did was swap the driver's side and passenger side bulbs. Meaning I put the driver's side bulb into the passenger side ballast. When I turned the headlights on the problem seemed to be fixed, because both bulbs lit up. Now when I turned them off and back on again the problem was back, the driver's side bulb was out again.
So this leads me to believe the driver's side ballast may be going bad. I was just wondering if anyone on here using the Philips kit had this same problem and had a solution for it. (The kit is the one Trevor from Visualdynamics.ca sold on HT as a groupbuy) I have emailed Trevor and I'm just waiting for a reply. But I decided to ask my HT homeys just in case they have an immediate answer to this problem.
Thanks in advance!

do you have a relay connected to it? that'll go before the ballast I think
I had the same thing happen to me and it ended up being the relay burnt out

Nope, the kit was plug and play. Just plug the stock connector to the ballast and the output cord plugs in to the HID bulb. Thanks for the help though.

Man, I've had it...I wanna say almost 2 years I think? This is the second problem Iv'e had. The first was just blowin the 40 amp fuse when I tried to turn on the high beams too quickly after I turned on the low beams. But that really wasnt that big of a deal. I love my HID's.
**************UPDATE UPDATE********************************
I have found the culprit. I double checked my connections just like everyone said to, and the rubber grommet that plugs into the ballast from the stock headlight power cord seems to not be blocking out the moisture/water. And its starting to corrode the terminals, I think I caught it just in time. Any suggestions on how to clean the terminals? Or do you think I should just buy a new ballast?
here are some pics.

Just take some baking soda, water, and a toothbrush to it. Then get some dielectric grease and dab it on the terminals. Clean off your seals and plug and play. Don't replace the ballast just because the terminal is bad (assuming it is the terminal).
You might be able to substitute the baking soda/water with some solvent at the store. Heck, brake cleaner might do it if you don't use too much.

I had the exact same problem as you w/ my visualdynamics kit. I would always have to pop my hood and as soon as I touched or moved the connection between the OEM harness and the adapter harness, the light would come on.
I finally took the harnesses off the car and cut open the wire loom there at the connection, and found out that the wires were connected very poorly. You see the connector that plugs into your stock harness is made by taking a 9006 bulb, hacking off the bulb portion and using just the base, and attaching wires to the 2 terminals. Well whoever made the harnesses at visualdynamics just shoved the wires onto the terminals (w/ female connectors) and put that heavy-duty shrink tubing over it. I put new female terminals on there and soldered it all together and have not had any problems since. I'm now running OEM HID projectors and bulbs, and recently made harnesses w/ relays so the headlights run off the battery, but I'm still using that visualdynamics harness because I didn't want to cut off my OEM headlight plugs.
