Evo Magazine - 100 Greatest Drivers Cars

Re: Evo Magazine - 100 Greatest Drivers Cars
According to Wikipedia:
"The term sports car has been defined as "an open, low-built, fast motor car."[1][2] The term describes a class of automobile with two seats, two doors, precise handling, brisk acceleration, and sharp braking — trading practical considerations such as passenger space, comfort, and cargo capacity — for driving enjoyment."
---I believe the Integra Type R consists of all those factors listed in the above quote, it just happens to have so much passenger space in the rear.
"A sports car does not require a large, powerful engine, though many do have them. Many classic British sports cars lacked powerful engines, but were known for exceptional handling due to light weight, a well-engineered, balanced chassis, and modern suspension (for example, Lotus Seven, Austin 7 Speedy). On tight, twisting roads, such a sports car may perform more effectively than a heavier, more powerful car".----Makes me think of an ITR, not sure how the rest of you'll feel.

^^ How did this turn into a S2000 vs. ITR debate? You guys like losing?
lol I love how you ignore the parts that are convenient for you to ignore.

Re: Evo Magazine - 100 Greatest Drivers Cars
The ITR is a sports car?
Not really. It's still faster than your ITR.
Sure. It's a sports car. The world's first and only 4 seater FWD sports car.
Just like that Miata truck I posted up.
Let's see...other vehicles meant for motorsports that are sports cars:
The Jeep Wrangler is meant to be used for (offroad) motorsports. So I guess that's a sports car.
Performance driving schools sometimes use Accords and TSXes for their driver's programs. Those were supplied by Honda for that purpose...So Accords and TSXes are sports cars now.
ATVs are all sports cars.
Jetskis...Sports cars to the max.
My friend bought a brand new 09 Si sedan with the intention of using it on the track. So that automatically makes 09 Si sedans sports cars.
the Lancer EVO sedan is a sports car.
The Nissan Maxima was marketed as a "four door sports car". So that's OBVIOUSLY a sports car.

LOL at the definition of "sports car".
Whatever kind of car people think it is, I'm glad to own one of them (or two of them at one time).

Re: Evo Magazine - 100 Greatest Drivers Cars
Everything in that quote you can compare to an ITR. So what, they shoved 2 seats in the back of it...
The term "my car is faster then yours" is shallow and ignorant. We're discussing Honda's on this thread, which aren't naturally drag cars, but built for handling. IMO a car that can go to high speeds quickly and lacks good handling isn't any good. The ITR and S2000 are both valid examples of cars that have an outstanding handling compared to most cars, and have decent specs across the board in every element.
The ITR is a badge numbered, limited edition vehicle, offered in three colors only, which seperates it from the mass produced Honda S2000. Hence why it is considered exotic.

Re: Evo Magazine - 100 Greatest Drivers Cars
I don't care about drag racing just for the record. I do track my S2000. I've had it on the drag strip once. I've HPDE'd it I think well over a dozen times in the like...3 years that I've owned it. I've also HPDE'd and Autocrossed my EM1 FWIW.
Why is this turning into a S2000 vs. ITR debate? Who said I disliked ITRs? I just call stuff what it is. Just because a cabbage is a green leafy vegetable doesn't mean I'll call it a lettuce.
I disagreed that the ITR is a sports car. EEEEEVERYONE got super defensive afterwards. Someone claimed that the ITR is an "exotic" and I'm the stupid one? Because it has a badge number? Are you serious?! The S2000 CR is also an exotic then? There's plenty of other mundane cars that have badge numbers on them as a way to market them. Are they exotics also? The Scion TC version 4.0 had a badge plate. Do you want to mix that in with the exotics?
I never said sports cars are AUTOMATICALLY superior to non sports cars. I just said that "sports car" is a specific category of car that the ITR doesn't belong in.
I rationally explained that it would be like calling a coupe a hatchback or calling a wagon a sedan.
Then it suddenly turned into me hating ITRs and a S2000 vs. ITR debate out of nowhere. I never mentioned S2000s in the first place. Dave B did by asking if I was jealous that the S2000 wasn't on some stupid list.
So if you MUST know why I answered the way I did:
1.) Why would I care? Because my car isn't on a magazine list in the U.K.?
2.) Even if I did care...the S2000 is still faster in any contest of speed than the ITR.
3.) IT'S A CAR!! It doesn't define me.
4.) THIS IS THE INTERNET!!
I'm sure this is going to get ugly now lol.

Re: Evo Magazine - 100 Greatest Drivers Cars
yup^ says it all
Well, this is an ITR thread in an ITR forum full of ITR owners, so if you think we are wrong to think that an ITR is a sports car or even the greatest car ever built by man, then why not let us be? So we are delirious and stupid, and over exaggerate about the performance of our cars, but who the hell are you to tell us we are wrong. If you don't like it, then go to the s2000 forum ans start a thread about how great the the s2000 is and how it will blow the doors off of any ITR. I'm sure none of the guys there will disagree with you. But when you do it here, then you're just an internet troll looking for a confrontation.

Re: Evo Magazine - 100 Greatest Drivers Cars
because its fan boi's like you who think ur **** dont stink...
and this is from your beloved EVO magazine:
"The S2000 is one of those cars that we really ought to like a lot more than we do. It's a no-nonsense, rear-drive sports car with a 237bhp, 9000rpm in-line 'four' and a close-ratio six-speed gearbox that, if you were compiling a list of the best gearshifts in production, would be very close to the top. "

Wow what a flame nest. ITR is a sports coupe and while it's so impressive, single-minded, and rare, that it can hang out in exotic circles, it will never technically be a sports car because sports cars have 2 seats and are RWD. If you're really getting hung up on whether the ITR is a sports car or not, I think you're too distracted on this subject. Go driving and I'm sure you'll forget about the debate. The ITR is a true masterpiece even if it has back seats.

Sure...let me go on Youtube and try to find the about 50 billion videos of S2000s passing ITRs. Wait...I don't have to. I know they're faster.

Please do.
While you are at it you can think up some more intelligent words of wisdom for us. I'm all ears.

No..I don't think intelligence works on most of the people in here.
I wasn't debating ITRs vs. S2000s in the first place. You guys seem to have napoleon syndrome or something. Dave B laid the bomb in your heads by writing the word "S2000". Every time you guys see this word, you feel like you have to defend yourself. It's probably because you know it's faster. If he never said S2000, you would probably have never known that I even have one.
I said the ITR doesn't belong in a certain category of car. If you're going to call it a sports car, you might as well call it a truck, a SUV, a wagon, a hatchback, AND a convertible all at once.

68942 S2K's in the US/CDN market VS 3850 ITR's. Not taking anything away from the S2K it's a nice car but the high production numbers are unattractive. If Honda had developed an S2K Type R as was anticipated I probably would have drooled.

Re: Evo Magazine - 100 Greatest Drivers Cars
I found this even more hilarious.
I'm not sad. The S2000's still faster in any respect. It's also just an overall better car.
There's plenty of awesome cars that didn't make the list. Is the ITR better than those cars also?

Re: Evo Magazine - 100 Greatest Drivers Cars
Your car is still a ROADSTER, not a Sports car, if we are going by definition.
Faster and better? While your entitled to your own opinion, I will disagree. I don't find it better and I've owned both cars, and driven both at the limit, both in stock form.
That list is the Greatest Drivers cars, so yes if others didnt' make the list, they are not as good Drivers Cars, as that is what the list is about.
