Default Differences between the Si and ITR tranny

I might be getting a used 2000 Si tranny with a Type R LSD in it. Was wondering if these trannies look exactly like the type R tranny's except without the LSD stamp? To know if there is actually the ITR lsd in it, i just look through the axle holes and if i can see right through, then its got the LSD in it? Anything else i should look for? Is the Y21 stamping visible anywhere on the tranny? I have the chance to check out the tranny before purchasing it.

edit: I doubt its possible, but is there a way i can tell if the tranny has any grinds or not?

The stamp on the 2000Si/SiR tranny should be S4..not Y21...
and for an ITR LSD to fit inside, the previous owner would have to have used a ring gear from a GS-R or ITR.....stock Si and stock USDM ITR is 4.4

but the sizes are different enough that Honda made two sizes of LSDs....one for the "lesser" EK4/EG6 and one for the Type-Rs.

Can't tell if the tranny is grinding till you put it in...

Buyer beware....

ITR tranny apparently has a different 2nd gear syncro. Ask SGT about it for details, but i think he siad it has 3 rows or something.
