Default up my compression?

my friend has a jdm b16 block for sale. just the bottom end. he says it's out of an sir. all internals are stock. roughly 30k on it. everything looks to be in good order. i have a 00 gsr with 92k and a "rod tap" it jus makes a really annoying high pitched noise wen i drive and i've been told it was a rod tap... and not a valve tap... idk how they know the diff but yea thats what i've been told. now he wants me to buy the block and put my head on it. he wants 300 + my block and then if i want him to install it, he said he'll charge 500 to do it. he is an ASE certified mechanic and works at honda so i trust him there. but i'm wondering if its a good deal, and is it worth it. he said doing this will solve the rod tap problem, raise my compression, and it'll run with type r's... do you guys think so? thanks in advance

u would want the b16 HEAD on a b18c1 BLOCK .. with type r cams and type r pistons, that is similiar to the power of a type r or also know as the poorman's type r .. if u use the b16 block .. u lost displacement .. u would want to stick with the b16 head also because its been aruged that the b16 head flows better than the b18c1 .. so with that said .. if u were to get the jdm b16 off of ur friend, u might as well get the whole thing ... maybe u should get a second opinion on your problem right now

p.s. a b16 block with b18c1 head will not run with type r's IMO

if you put a B16 in your integra.. you'll want to slap yourself after you do it. You lose displacement with the B16 block.. my friend has a JDM b16 in his DC.. and its slow... way way slower then a GSR.. I'd suggest rebuilding your block and fixing that rod tap or what ever it is.. jus do a rebuild on the block and you should be good again...

could be that you spun a rod bearing, and its making knocking like noises. then you'd jus have to get new bearings and have the crank polished and you'll be fine agian. this happened to my freinds car.. but i wouldnt go to a B16 block

i lose displacement but i gain compression... what exactly is compression??? i'm new to this if u couldn't tell.... i'm not much of an engine guy.. i'm goin by what other ppl say so all of this help is much appreciated.

i asked another source and he said its basically like puttin i type r head on my gsr block...

then today my friend sayd it is an upgrade in hp too cuz the b16 sir has 180 hp... that is when it's complete with all b16 stuff.. i dunno if thats true or if he jus made that up to convince me more to buy it....

doin a rebuild on my engine would be like 1200 right??? i don't have that much cash and my tap is to the point to where i don't wanna even drive the teg any more... i jus take my bike everywhere.

someone correct me if i'm wrong. but i think all B16s have 160hp. The CTR B16B is the one that has more power.. but they're really rare.

as for rebuilding your block, if you're mechanically inclined or have friends that are that are willing to help you. i shouldnt cost you anywhere near 1200. If you're just going to stick with the stock rods and pistons.. then all you'd have to do is take it apart.. get new bearings, new seals, new oil pump and water pump while you're at it too and take the crank to the machine shop and have it machined and polished. that should be around 5-600 and put it back together and you should be good as new.

either hes not much of a friend and hes tryin to rip you off, or hes a complete dumbass..

you do not want to buy his b16 block and put your gsr head on it...

if you have a gsr motor why in hell would you want to downgrade to a 1.6l motor???

you need to read more about how an engine works....education is your most important tool here..if you knew how a motor made power, youd see why your frined is full of ****

cliffs: do not buy your friends b16 block, do not put your head on a b16 block, and quit listening to your friend about cars, hes ripping you off...
