poorman's type r build
hello everybody i currently drive a 94 ls with a jdm b16. which im totally fine with but i needa go bigger and better. so i decided to get a b18c short block and swap it out with my b16 short block. which from what i heard its a "poorman's type r" my question is has anyone here done this and give me some pointers and feedback on the setup

Re: poorman's type r build (itz_nij)
swapping the b16 head on the gsr would give u the poor mans type r but doing it will also drop compression abit becuase the b16 does not have quench areas as the gsr. i would mill the head to get back some compression or wait till you had enough money to swap in the b16 pistons and head. either way your off to a good start just remember searching is helpful.gl on build

yea i know searching is the first place to check but man i find nothing but "what is a poorman's type r build" i just need a know other peoples feedback on this build cause im stuck with this weak *** b16 block. i plan to boost too so compression shouldnt be a problem. thanks for the info though, i was waiting for someone to reply

well the swap is pretty much straight forward just put the head on compression will be 9.8:1 instead of the factory 10:1 you probably wont gain much over the regular gsr motor but it would be better than the b16 and you dont have to worry about the butterflies on the intake mani. and there are more intake manifolds for the pr3 head.
