what is the difference between the TYPE R block and the GS-R block.

bare block is the same.
short block, ITR has slightly better rods, higher compression pistons, slightly heavier crank with 8 balanced counterweights (i believe it's 8) for more stability during higher rpm.

long block, all of the above except the head is basically a b16 with a slight hand port and polish job from the factory, along with upgraded valves, valvetrain, intake manifold, cams, and different LMA's.

someone chime in if i left something out.
