Default Tranny problems...

**** it. Well it was bound to happen sooner or later, I'm just glad I wasn't far from my house. I'm going though the Haynes guide & trying to figure this one out. I had just left the house headed to a friend's apt. when I felt my transmission sticking. The damn thing had clutch pressure but would not go into second. I needed to get off the streets so I was wasn't far from a friend's apartment. The only problem is I was in an area that had alot of hills to battle to at least get to a safe area. I made it but not without gettting stuck in gear. Being dark & me without my mag light, I couldn't figure out what the hell had happened. I believe it maybe the interlock pin, but won't know until the morning. Weird thing is it going gear without the ignition off but once the car is started with the cutch ingauged, it will not let me shift. I've never had this happpen to me , I had this car since new (1995-no Kidding) currently I have 130,000+ pampered "SCCA SOLO II/track events @ Texas World Speedway well driven" miles on her.

The car has been towed via flatbed to my mechanic, the tow truck driver wasn't the brightest of them all. I was tring to get him to listen to me instead of just trying to screw up my car up even more while getting it on the flatbed. God, what a dingus. Now I get to argue with him about the tow bill when I told him that I have AAA. He told me that he works with AAA but thats another rant. I want to thank a fellow HT member Slimnem(SP?) "Josh" for giving me a ride home & helping out. I'll keep everyone posted on this.

Sounds like a spring in your clutch disc has popped out. Happened to me twice. Once in my Rex, and now in my DA. First it started out as being hard to shift into gear when im driving, then it just wouldnt go into gear unless the engine was off. Also, when you put it into gear and start the car, it would move. Thats the result of the spring getting caught between the disc and the pressure plate and not allowing the clutch to disengage completely, which inturn prevents you from shifting gears while the motor is on. Anyways, its new clutch time for you and me Do you have a stock clutch by the way? Or is it aftermarket?

Im a Diehard fan of Exedy clutches. After my stock CRX clutch went out, i got the Exedy Organic race clutch and it was GREAT! Stock pedal feel and smoothe engagement, but it grabbed very nice when racing. I chirped 3rd all the time with that clutch, drove hard on it everyday too, including about 80 miles a day city driving when i deliver pizzas . It held up like a champ. Now that my 93 Integra stock clutch went out, i ordered an Exedy organic race clutch from clutchcityonline.com. Also ordered an ACT streetlite flywheel from a friend of mine. I highly recommend the Exedy Organic though, its priced good and performs very well

Theres also a post about clutches in the crx forum here

Well I just got off the phone with my mechanic & you were 100 % correct. Due to cost of aftermarket racing parts for now I'll just place in the stock unit. Always worked fine for me. The flywheel will need to be resurfaced, for another 100.00 to the bill they will machine it down to 12.5 lbs. I'm going with this set up for now, just I'm limited to funds at this time & still unsure about aftermarket clutches but I know most of that is due to the driver.

Where the car being serviced.
