Default tranny problem

the other day i was driving on the freeway and my 5th gear popped out, and after that when i exited the freeway and came to a light, i put it in 1st gear and went maybe a few feet before the tranny made this wrecking noise and the only gear that would go in was 3rd. also, it stalled when it was in neutral and for some reason the car won't budge (if you pushed it with the e-brake off) unless you had your foot pushed down on the clutch pedal. man i've never seen this problem before... could it be the clutch disc, or pressure plate? i'm hoping it's not the complete tranny that's messed up. please help!!

most likely you will have to get a new tranny. i wouldn't even try messing with the actual gears, synchros, and shafts.

i had the same problem, and all i had to do was replace the clutch and it was fine. dont try moving the car and more because it wont go anyways. also you dont want to mess up anything else. you can only move the car with the pedal pushed down right??

you know, when i read the original post, i was thinking "damn, he needs a new clutch." that's interesting that you had the exact same problem. so that's two votes for "new clutch time." if it still pops out of 5th after that, you'll need a new synchro spring on that gear.
