Hey all, i found this 1999 gsr for sale for a really good price. The only problem is that the owner bought the car and never register it. Also during the time he had it, he said the car got stoeln and all they took was the motor. He replaced the motor with a JDM motor (B18C). Only problem is that if i buy it, how would i be able to register it? I think i would have to take it to the state referee, but he don't got any paper work for the motor to prove it is not stolen. Since the car is from another state and also its got a jdm motor swap.
i had ahatchback that i bought, never got it registered or never got the title switched to my name. i sold the car and the guy i sold it to jus got it registered like normal. did he already sign as the buyer on the title of the car? if he didnt then jus put your name their and act like the previous seller sold it to you. jus dont tell the registration people that the car was ever stolen or has a swap. what state r u in? cause in florida they jus check the vin # and as long as everything shows up fine then ur good to go. but in your state they may give visual inspections or what not. hope this helps

I was always told that in cali, not sure where this transaction is taking place, that the seller had to take care of smog. So if you buy a car and the previous owner hasn't smogged it, you will have to get it smogged, but you can sue for the cost of the smog and repairs to get it smog compliant. I've tried looking it up on several occasions, and everything I can find states that there is no such thing as "sold as is" legally, its the sellers responsibility to make sure its legal for sale.
Also, even if he never registered it, if you get all the paperwork turned in within 30 days, you'll usually be fine. I bought a car that had not been registered in 5 years, and they just added it back into the system.
