Default Porting...?

Whats up guys?? yeah im new to this site and just recently got a teg.... but i was wondering what porting the head will do for me??? i mean i know what it does but what kinda power will i be looking at??? its a 94 LS I/E.... help me out...

I wouldnt think you would get more than 10 hp(without any other mods). Porting is only going to make a huge difference if you turbo, or build it for an all motor etc.. Stock though you wont see a big hp difference(trust me i know, it was one of the first things i had done to my GSR).

I agree with civintegra. I would look into other mods if you haven't done so. Also if your looking into a better flowing head you could consider selling yours (B18C1) and picking up a ITR head (B18C5).

well the thing is i came across a guy thats gonna do it for free so its not like im losing anything i jus wanted to make sure it would b worth it to even do.... PrinceAli... its not a b18c1 its a LS i eventually wanna go ls/vtec N/A but dont really have the funds to do so right now...

IMO porting and polishing is a lot like individual throttle bodies, great modification to do but you'll need to be making a decent amount of power before its presence is felt. Porting just takes away any surface burrs and polishes them to improve air flow characteristics into and out of the combustion chamber, if there isn't a lot of air going through to begin with taking away the turbulence won't really result in much gain.

well i mean can it hurt anything if i do it??? if a good job is done will i atleast b able to feel a difference??? and i also have a SAFC that was in the car when i got it... can anybody tell me how i should tune it??? im still on stock injectors...

Yes do it since it is free. That way in the future you don't have to pay for it being done.

acutally if you can get it done for free try and find a b16 or gsr head to do it on the ls head isn't a very great head in the first place and try a lsvtec
