Default Poor mans type are. (searched)

I've heard some good things about this swap. I have a 96GSR and was wonder what all is needed to do the swap correctly. Searching just came up with what a "poor mans type -r" is. thanks guys. and yes I mean the b16a head on a b18 block.

edit: price would be nice if you have them off hand.

Are you just putting a stock head on a stock block with the ITR or CTR pistons and whatever else? If so....you may want to invest in ARP headstuds just to get brand new parts. You may not need them...but it would serve a purpose later on down the road if you plan on doing any build to it.

A good place to start would be with your current engine. It has just as much, if not more potential than a "poor man's type-r".

If money is tight, keep the engine stock. It will be more reliable if you don't add stuff to it to make it faster.

A hacked together head and block combination is just asking for reliability problems.

yeah any poor man's type r is just asking for trouble. if your head is done right, it will be very reliable, (it's not like building a dsm), but if you still need the car for a daily driver, i would suggest buying a head, do a rebuild, put what you want in it, then put it on your car. that way is nice, b/c you can then sell your old head for what you bought the other one for or more (if you're lucky).
