please help coilover install problems

Default please help coilover install problems

I am installing tein basics on my car, I just finished the front but when I lowered it down the top of the strut came way up out of the engine bay (i think i may have broke the stock mount) I cant figure out why this happened. thanks in advance for any help

Did you unbolt ant of the upper control arm?

Rebolt the damper correctly?

I just followed the instructions here

Its like the whole coilover assembly is too short or something. I wish I could take pictures. I cant figure out what is wrong. I thought I did everything right.

well i had somewhat the same problem...... Did a single bar just come up out the strut? If so It is because the washer isnt holding the bump stop so nothing stops it.

yeah, the single middle bar where the top nut goes on. which washer is it? and how did you fix the problem? Im wondering if I may be missing something

Were the struts already assembled or did you have to DIY? I had the same problem and it was because I forgot to put this washer onto the shock shaft to make it stop when it hits the underside of the top mount.

PM me if u want, it sounds like the same exact problem I had

its not the tube, its the washer under the tube.....

oh man I didnt think about that, good thing I lowered it with the hood open that would have been bad... haha

You forgot the bumpstop plate (washer) that goes directly above the bumpstop, it keeps the shock from coming up thru the upper mount as you described. It's #15 in this pic:
