NOS!
Does anyone have some information on NOS Octane Booster?
I have two bottles of NOS Octane Booster: Racing Formula. Will it jack my engine up if I use it? It's not the Nitrous Oxide System, its just some liquid that you put into the gas tank. I heard that it gives you 5-10HP throughout the whole powerband...
I need some info on this before I actually use it. I want to be sure and safe. So if you know anything about this NOS Octane Booster: Racing Formula, then let me know. Thanks!

Hey all,
With my limited knowledge, I believe it works like this:
For financial reasons, you should run the lowest octane gas that doesn't make your car ping. Octane represents the resistance of the gas to pinging. More octane promotes a SLOWER burn.
You may benefit (more power) from higher octane gas IF you are able to take advantage of more octane by advancing timing. For example, if the ECU is pulling timing because the knock sensor detects ping, you may not pull as much timing with more octane to prevent the pinging. Also, more octane is insurance when running advanced timing, high compression, or forced induction.
Other than that, it really won't help you except through weight reduction from a lighter wallet....
Also, there has been some debate whether octane boosters even increase the octane. I have heard (mostly from the Audiworld board) that the NOS Octane booster is the most efficacious at actually increasing octane, but you aren't necessarily increasing it "that" much. For example, if you have 94 octane Sunoco and add NOS octane booster which may say it adds 6 "points," are you really at the equivalent of 100 octane?
Does anyone have data on how effective they are?
Thanks,
FB
