next mod
whats up all, need some advice on my next mod. i have the following already installed on my ls. jr supercharger, aem cold air intake, dc sports headers, tanabe catback, and a high flow fuel pump. im considering the venom control module. for 300 bucks 40 or so hp is pretty damn good. i know i wont get that much out of it, but how good are the results? is it worth it? if not what do you reccomend instead.

venom control model is a POS. All it does is fool your ECU into thinking you have the throttle open more than you do. At WOT it does absoluetly nothing.
Get a highflow cat, right now your exhaust system has a bottleneck in it. With the JRSC you are going to be creating alot of exhaust flow, and the cat is really holding you back.
Also, a CAI with a supercharger doesn't work well. Look into getting a quality shortram.

Those CAI systems are great for NA applications, but do more harm than good on a supercharged setup. The taper to the larger diameter drops the air velocity, raising the pressure the throttle body "sees." High pressure and low velocity are what the throttle body thrives on. Because the blower does heat the incoming air, the engine no longer sees the benefits of the CAI system. Simply put, velocity helps NA engines fill the cylinders, and the losses that come from the additional suction required to pull air through a long tube is overcome by this. Once the air is moving, it has momentum and this helps "push" it into the cylinders. On a blown engine, velocity does NOT help fill the cylinders. There are rotors there. All velocity does is make the air less dense, and this means less efficient air compression. It's worth noting that Oscar Jackson and T.O.O. both advise to use short ram style intakes for supercharging.
anything that "T.O.O" aka FENDYN says is not worth noting. maybe some injectors FPR and a VAFC to tune your air fuel would be a good upgrade.

Hey gmoor379,
I am thinking about supercharging my LS. How do you like yours? Do you notice a big difference from before the blower was put on, cuz I heard LS's don't respond well to supercharging. I still want to though. Right now I have I/H/E, cam gears and dyno tuned S-AFC. Let me know what kind of numbers you are putting up and how you like the setup. Thanks

How much difference did the S-afc make on your LS?
I am thinking of adding one to my car.
What was your best 1/4 mile time after you tuned
it?
I thought the supercharger was a good investment. it produced about 50 hp. be sure to buy the 8lb pulley with it. it added another 20hp. im getting really mixed signals about the venom chip, some say its a god send other a piece of ****. so, if you own it, please respond.

I have seen great things from Venom 300. My friend had it on his d16 motor and put down 14 to the wheels... Not bad when you think you usually can't get that from i/h/e...
First, puts 14 to the wheels? 14 what? 14 second quarter? 14 hp? either way the venom 400 wouldn't even be used durring those tests. Venom themselves claim that the produce does not do anything at WOT, so dyno testing and quarter mile times would not change at all.
yea, id stay away from the venom module. i hear more negative than postive about that.
high flow cat, SAFC and some cam gears is what you shoutd be saving for. then on to the dyno!

b18bfreak,
After I dyno tuned the S-AFC, I noticed a significant change in throttle response, and power throughout the rev range. Of course I also had my ingition timing advanced and my cam gears tuned as well. The S-AFC is a very good investment though, it will definitely gain you more power if you tune it, and it adds a good look to the interior with the blue screen (especially at night). I have not run my car on the track yet, but my dyno numbers went from 107 whp without it, to 125 whp with it and after it was tuned. I say go for it.
