new engine
I am going to buy a new engine soon and I am on a limited budget. I have a 1990 Teg 2 door 5-speed. I want to spend around $800 to $1000 on an engine. I was thinking about a B20b or just another B18a. I can't find a B20Z for less than $1200 and that's out of my price range. I also want to turbo in the future. Is it woth it to get a B20b for around $500 to $600 dollars or should I just get another B18a? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
B18 is a more safe direction to go with turbo, b20 has a larger cylinder bore so the sleeves are thinner.
I'm going to be hitting up the b20 deal on passwordjdm here in a couple months, 549 or something for one, 999 for two!
I just want a cheap replacement motor =P

I've heard that you can boost with no problems with the B20 and I've heard the opposite, so I don't really know for sure. I was looking at the same deal and I might do it in a few months also. I wonder though if this would make more sense over a B18a. I'm going to drive around without a turbo for quite a while and I don't want a less powerful engine than I have now. Thanks.
My best advice...JUNKYARD! A buddy of mine found a K20a in a busted *** 4 door civic. That was a lucky find...only paid $300 cause they made him pull it himself. Or.. hit up ebay. I know it doesn't sound the safest to buy engines from but only buy from one's that have warranty's or promise money back. I know budget can be frustrating but you'll never be satified if you settle for less than your expectations
